Justice League Dark #15

First off let me start by saying Justice League Dark has been nothing short of perfection throughout its 15 issue run in the new 52. That trend continues this month as the search for Timothy Hunter and Zatanna continues. The story starts out with great visuals by Janin and finds us seeing where Hunter and Zatanna left off. They are in another dimension and run into some monsters and it seems Zatanna power has increased ten fold in this new place. It's followed by Constantine and the rest of the team figuring out a way to get their allies back and it's perfect from A to Z.

THE GOOD
Lemire needs to get half the books in the new 52. Honestly? Why are they holding out on this guy?! Anyway, Lemire spins another gem giving us a good mix of action and great story telling. Lemire has a perfect touch of sense of humor to go along with his characters. He writes all the characters so well and is able to juggle all of them in the short issue. He sets up for a very interesting confrontation and the end of the issue and ushers in some new clever problems for the group. Janin artwork is fantastic. His facial work has been above par since his beginning. The way he is able to capture every particular emotion is really captivating. And when you see the splash page of Hunter and Zatanna after being saved, just fantastic.

THE BAD
Honestly...not too much.

OVERALL
Justice league dark 15 is a perfect mix match of action and quality story telling. The characters and known well by Lemire and juggled well in the story. We see a lot of forward progress and some interesting situations for the future. Janin still has it and carries this book and it's characters very well and is able to set the scene with his lifelike facial expressions. In the end, go buy it it's well worth your 2.99.

Manhattan Projects #8

I'll tell you what, Jonathan Hickman must have some crazy dreams. I love the realistic adsurdity that is Manhattan Projects. In this issue we get to see the group of scientists get a real foe, it turns out to be the top leaders of the world. With all the random science craziness that goes on from month to month I think we are starting to see a little more concrete sense in the story.

THE GOOD

Hickman's writing is so clever and intricate. I'm always waiting to see what happens next even if it doesn't really make 100% sense all the time. This issue helps move the story along greatly. Allies of the formidable science team start to turn over a new leaf and fight back for what is theirs. We get to see a little more character building, and there are some moments with Von Braun that I didn't expect to see...(especially the ending). Hickman always has a way in this book to have a lot of violence but to make it just plain sciency weird in a good way. The art by Pitarra is spot on as usual. He really runs with the imaginative story telling of Hickman and brings these intricate characters to life. There was a lot more action for him to work with this month so it was nice to see a little more change of pace. This issue did pack a little bit more of a punch which was nice.

THE BAD
While this book does build on the characters and flesh out some different story telling paths for the future there's still no concrete piece of this book to hold onto by saying "ok I get why they did that," or "oh wow! now it makes sense!" So while the book is always fun and enjoyable sometimes it's a bit confusing to try to make sense of it.

OVERALL
Lot of forward progression in the book this month which was nice. A touch more action for Pitarra to tackle, and Von Braun ending up in a weird way. While the story seems a bit confusing at times I trust Hickman's epic story telling chops and love what he has created so far. Keep reading this book I feel that there are endless big things to come.
